About the Company
A niche manufacturing and finishing company serving highly regulated and precision-driven industries is entering a rebuild and growth phase. The business has a strong base of contracted work and an active quoting pipeline, and leadership is focused on building the infrastructure needed to scale.

Why This Role Exists
The company is hiring a hands-on finance leader to stabilize the accounting function, tighten monthly reporting, and take critical back-office workload off ownership so the organization can move confidently into its next stage of growth.

What Success Looks Like in the First 90–120 Days
  • Monthly financials are accurate and completed by the 15th of the following month.
  • You quickly learn and operate effectively in the current ERP system and create clean, reliable workflows across AP, AR, and payroll inputs.
  • You begin building financial visibility through trend analysis and basic forecasting to support pricing, margin, and cash decisions.
Core Responsibilities
Accounting & Close
  • Own month-end close, reconciliations, and the monthly financial reporting cadence.
  • Maintain accuracy and consistency in the general ledger, bank reconciliations, and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP.
  • Partner with an external CPA firm to ensure clean books and year-end readiness.
Accounts Payable, Controls & Process
  • Oversee accounts payable workflow and ensure invoices are processed accurately and on time.
  • Implement practical internal controls to prevent duplicate payments, missed payments, and vendor disruptions.
  • Improve documentation and organization to support audit readiness and efficiency.
Compliance & Taxes
  • Coordinate timely filing and payment of state and local obligations including sales and use tax and other required filings.
  • Maintain a calendar-driven compliance process to ensure deadlines are never missed.
Business Support & Analysis
  • Build dashboards and trend reporting to improve visibility into margin, cash needs, and operational performance.
  • Support pricing reviews and margin discipline as costs and terms evolve.
  • Assist with cash forecasting, working capital visibility, and vendor term analysis.
Systems & Tools
  • Operate within the current ERP and drive continuous process improvement.
  • Help plan a practical path to integrate ERP outputs with QuickBooks or a comparable accounting platform.
  • Advanced Excel required; QuickBooks experience strongly preferred.
Team Collaboration
  • Partner closely with ownership and operations leadership.
  • Provide oversight across key finance workflows including AP, AR, payroll inputs, and purchasing coordination.
  • Work collaboratively with the company’s long-term CPA partner.
What They’re Looking For
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience in manufacturing, job shop, distribution, or industrial services environments.
  • Proven ability to run a close, improve processes, and build reliable reporting in a lean organization.
  • Comfortable being hands-on while building structure and improving systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively within a small team.
  • Highly organized with strong follow-through and a sense of urgency.
